New Series 60 3rd Edition Software

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

I have just completed Dictionary 1.0 for the Series 60 3rd Edition. It’s a large Websters dictionary with fast (indexed) lookup. It has been written using SymRAD.

This program isn’t freeware. Instead, I am sending it as way of thanks to people who donate via my SExplorer web page.

Symbian 9.1 Development Tip and Warning

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

I have been playing a lot with files under 9.1. If you look on the Symbian/Nokia development forums, some developers have been wondering how to write out information to text files that can be human readable afterwards. Writing to the (default) ‘private’ directory results in a file that can’t be read from any other program.
The solution is to […]

I have just added the latest Strategy Analytics report to my list of recent mobile market research - a useful summary for anyone working in or contemplating working in the mobile space.

This month, Appforge have added support for BlackBerry (J2ME). This is a […]

The Nokia N70 has been very popular. It has been mainly sold off the back of 3G marketing. If people I know who have them are anything to go by, most users have been sold it as an upgrade often not knowing it’s a 3G phone let alone a […]

SExplorer 1.0

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

I have just completed SExplorer 1.0 which fixes all known bugs. Following on from yesterday’s post on AllFiles/TCB there’s obviously (now) not much point signing the application. Keep an eye on this blog for news of more software I have in development.
I have it on good authority that a well known Series60 site will opening a freeware catalogue next month. This is […]

Symbian Signed AllFiles and TCB

Monday, April 24th, 2006

My adventure into writing Symbian 9.1 Signed freeware has unearthed more problems and questions… and a few answers.
If you are following my progress, you will know I needed a ACS publisher ID to obtain a devcert for a manufacturer capability. Up to now, I haven’t needed one as apps have been signed in the name of […]
