UIQ Independence

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

It’s interesting that UIQ hasn’t been absorbed into Sony Ericsson since it was acquired a few months ago.
In fact, a recent article on Mobile Europe suggests the exact oppose will happen…
"…So we set up UIQ as a separate company, which at the moment is owned by Sony Ericsson, but we absolutely do not expect to […]

Carbide.j Dropped

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

I am not sure when it actually happened but Nokia has dropped further development of Carbide.j. The reasoning is that the EclipseME plugin and Sun’s NetBeans IDE with Mobility Pack provide two adequate solutions.

EDGELIB […]

AppForge

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

It appears that AppForge is in financial difficulty. I have previously written about AppForge’s usefulness and unsuitable license schemes resulting in lost opportunity. Let’s hope Nokia can salvage something from this.

The second of my UIQ ‘Getting Started’ tutorials has just been published on Sony Ericsson Developer World. It covers how to set up your PC for UIQ development.
The development environment is a complex mix of Symbian base SDK, UIQ SDK, IDE, optional manufacturer specific extensions and third party tools. Developers also have a choice […]
