Handango Secures Additional $9.5 Million in Venture Funding

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Following my previous post on increased Handango Commission, I learnt today that Handango has just secured $9.5 Million in Venture Funding.
Handango started in 1999 and I find it hard to believe it still needs venture funding, especially when it has been charging developers such high commission fees. Something seems wrong here.
Meanwhile, the press release […]

Handango Commission

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Handango seem to have alienated developers yet again. While I also feel 50% commission is too much, Handango is currently the only option if you want to distribute your applications to as great a number of people as possible.

Monday, November 19th, 2007

There is a fascinating interview with Arun Sarin, Vodafone chief executive, on the FT site today. It gives an insight into Vodafone thinking. I particularly liked the following part…
"Q: Given the entry of Google and Nokia, all pushing on mobile services, how do you avoid Vodafone becoming a pipe down which others send services?
A: Most […]

Payment Whitepaper

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

Octegra have a great whitepaper showing how mobile content revenues based on Premium Rate SMS create an unfair division of revenues leading lower revenues for both the mobile and content industries.

Octegra propose that network operators should adopt a direct-to-bill payment mechanism. I personally can’t see this happening. Network operators would see this as a reduction in their […]
