Today, Java Verified announced ‘Java Verified Releases Tips for Solving Java ME Signing Issues’. While such tips would be welcome, I haven’t been able to find them on the Java Verified site! At the time of looking, the document wasn’t on the Resources & Downloads page and a search didn’t find it either.

This is symptomatic of how I have viewed Java ME over the years… well meaning but not entirely well thought out or conceived. This has caused me to further think about the future of Java ME. Oracle’s agreement to buy Sun, delays due to EU monopoly concerns and resultant redundancies don’t leave me that optimistic that there will be a long term future for Java ME. Even attendees to JavaOne 2009 didn’t consider mobility as being of much importance for the future of Java.
