80% of Windows Mobile Devices Sold are HTC
One interesting fact that has come out of MWC 2009 is that HTC devices constitute about 80% of all Windows Mobile sales.
This statistic is slightly ambiguous because HTC also supply other Windows Mobile OEMs (e.g. Sony Ericsson and Palm) and network operators (e.g. O2 and T-Mobile).
Despite Windows Mobile being a platform, I have found that it does have small differences between devices, even those based on the same version of Windows Mobile. I suppose this is inevitable what with the differences in form factor and underlying hardware. It’s interesting for developers to know that if they test on HTC devices they are covering the majority of the market.
