Symbian have released a beta version of the Symbian Pre-Test tool written by Digia. The tool tests UIQ and Series 60 applications against the Symbian Signed criteria.

I previously commented that the Symbian Signed test criteria describe test tools that the developer does not have access to, resulting in the situation that it’s impossible to fully test applications prior to submission. The new Symbian Signed Pre-Test tool rectifies this anomaly.

I had a little play with the tool on an application I have previously Symbian Signed. I found that you must run the tool on a ‘clean’ phone. If your have previously installed your test application you will need to reset your phone and format the memory card.
