Handheld Devices Sink 53.2%

idc.gifThe latest IDC press release tells us that the handheld (non telephony) device market continues to fall…

"For the full year, vendors shipped a total of 3.0 million units worldwide, down 44.3% from the 5.5 million units shipped during all of 2006."

I wonder if this device segment will one day experience a recovery if Linux style Internet (WiFi) tablet sales start to make an impression on the more traditional style PDA?
