Bad News for Mobile Linux?

arcchart.gifARCChart has some thought provoking analysis on Nokia’s acquisition of Trolltech. It’s generally a negative view on the prospects for other mobile Linux vendors…

"It is even more telling that Trolltech’s management have accepted Nokia’s cash, instead of holding out an improved valuation were they confident that future market conditions would be favourable to the company."

and…

"where does that leave the other Linux hopefuls which have no revenue and have yet to ship on a commercial product? At the very least, it means a high valuation exit is unlikely for these companies for the foreseeable future."

It’s an interesting view. However, I think it’s too negative and too early to be making such predictions. I am keeping an open mind. For example, like many mobile companies, it may turn out that Trolltech is a victim of unfortunate timing - it may have been in the Mobile Linux market too early.
