Mobile Business Applications

instat.gifThere’s an interesting press release at In-Stat reporting that mobile business applications growth is slower than expected. The reason for this is because…

"As business users approach saturation for horizontal mobile data applications, most of the growth potential remains for vertical market applications. These require more planning and time to implement."

What this means is that many businesses have now implemented mobile email/messaging/contact solutions. Any further growth will now mainly be from more specialised business applications.

I get several enquiries each week from companies/people wishing to implement new mobile solutions. However, very few of them are for mobile business applications. Instead they are either consumer applications or B2B middleware for use in phones. What does this mean? Either people don’t come to people like me for enterprise business applications (ie they do it in-house) or there’s very little happening in this space. I suspect it’s the latter which means there may be opportunities here for someone.
