Phone Protection
Regarding the new Nokia Energy Profiler it seems that initially it wasn’t that clear who this application was targeted at.
"I proposed last month, inside Nokia, that we should release this under Beta Labs too. We decided not to go for it, however, because the app is clearly developer-focused, while Beta Labs is consumer-focused."
Here’s another idea. How about putting this application in the phone but with a more consumer oriented/alert type interface? i.e. Not a graph but an alert when the phone detects that an application is flattening your battery at an unreasonable rate. The alert would be able to be disabled on a per-application/widget basis, for example, in case that you really wanted that IM application running all the time.
In previous posts I talked about the new possibilities for errant Javascript/Widgets and the possibility of new mechanisms that could police applications on the phone.
