iPhone Code Signing

iphone.jpgIt’s great to see that Apple have finally given in and plan to provide an SDK that will allow third party applications. I suspect this and other things like lack of Java support, poor battery life, no removable battery, no 3G and no memory expansion slot were more because they would take too much time/money - rather than the more disputable reasons that tend to be espoused by Apple.

One thing confuses me though…

"Nokia, for example, is not allowing any applications to be loaded onto some of their newest phones unless they have a digital signature that can be traced back to a known developer."

Now, I am not aware of any such phones. Unless Steve has access to ‘newest’ phones I haven’t even seen yet, he appears to not really know what he is talking about.

Now that Nokia is creating a ‘me too’ device, Apple only has a short time to get those missing features (and perhaps more such as GPS, FM, MMS, higher res camera) into the iPhone.
