Compelling Mobile Applications
Russell Beattie is back with a brand new mobile blog. Russell’s old blog was one of the main influences that got me blogging and it’s great he’s back. For people who don’t know Russell’s style, it’s wise to know he sometimes posts partially thought out and even contentious ideas. This isn’t a criticism. In fact, it causes you to think about things in much greater detail.
Take for example his latest post…
"…but those things that are truly compelling, that make you TAKE THE PHONE OUT OF YOUR POCKET EVERY DAY, all have to do with communication."
Is this true? I am not so sure. I am more of the opinion that there hasn’t been enough innovation directed at tapping into key areas people care about when mobile. Taking this further, people are more interested in practical things that interact with their local environment. Let’s have more physical applications that cause people to take the phone out of their pocket.
