Mobile Web Browsing User Experience
Virpi Roto at the Nokia Research Centre has a new dissertation on ‘Web Browsing on Mobile Phones - Characteristics of User Experience’.
From the dissertation…
"I think the key to user experience evaluation is to analyse whether the product met the expectations that the user had before starting to use it."
The big question for me is whether users are comparing experience to that on the PC desktop or some ‘dumbed down’ experience expected of a phone.
"We found that users did not even start mobile browsing if they expected it to be too laborious or too expensive."
I also wonder how many people avoid new services because they have already experienced ‘bill shock’.
