There’s a useful article at ARCChart on Mobile Linux and how it is gradually becoming commercialised/productised.

While this is true, I can’t help but wonder how difficult it will be to develop for many variants. The growth is being driven by too many different parties (IDE/tools vendors, standards organisations, phone manufacturers and network operators). Each will have their own telephony stacks, application execution environment, custom APIs, UI frameworks and development environments.
