One of the common causes for non-takeup of mobile applications is the uncertainty users have over how much it will cost to actually use the applications. When I am talking about costs, this usually means data or MMS costs.

As an example, a report this month by NPD shows that people are very pleased with camera phones. However, images are staying on the phone because of "uncertainty over costs".

Maybe the first mobile application a mobile operator should provide is one that measures (and maybe predicts) costs! It’s not as impossible as it sounds . Take a look at TellMeHowMuch.com which works on Series 60 phones.
