KPMG Study
There’s a in-depth study of mobile consumers at KPMG.
If you don’t have time to read the whole white paper, in summary…
Consumers…
-
Want new services
-
Want one service provider and one bill
-
Want entertainment services in Asia and information services in the West
-
Are reluctant to pay large premium for extra services
KPMG think Network Operators need to…
-
Think of services as a way of retaining customers rather than creating direct extra revenue
-
Explore new revenue sources such as media sponsorship/advertising and providing payment services for third parties

There’s a large amount of information in the white paper and it’s wise to step back a little. The survey reflects how consumers feel now. This could easily change over time. It wasn’t that long ago (pre GSM when we had the TACS network in the UK) that consumers didn’t want mobile phones and didn’t do text messaging. Consumers may not even know what they really want in the future.
