iSuppli has a new press release that says that smartphones will be displacing featurephones faster than was originally expected. 2013, rather than 2015, will be the first time that smartphones will make up more than half all Worldwide phone shipments.
iSuppli also say "Microsoft’s Windows platform is predicted to become the third viable smartphone platform in the years to come". While this might become true, I very much doubt Windows Phone will have a large market share. It will be more due to the fact that it will be the only actively developed and marketed phone OS that remains. I think this situation provides some interesting opportunities for newcomers such as the Firefox Mobile OS.
